Farewell

Ladies & gentlemen, all good things must come to an end.  This will be my last CNI post.  You know when you know it's time?  It's time.

I have some upcoming projects (sneaker-related & nonsneaker-related) in the works, so stay tuned.

Thanks for listening to me all these past years.  Take care & God Bless.

All About The Benjamins

Dropping this Saturday at Ubiq in Philadelphia (and at other New Balance retailers in July), the UBIQ x New Balance 1600 "The Benjamin".

With a 4th of July/USA colorway to boot, this collaboration honors Philadelphia's favorite son Benjamin Franklin. I'm not a big fan of the NB1600, but I find this colorway to be amazing.

So Far, NOT So Good

Despite not ever playing in an NBA game in them, I was excited about the Derrick Rose adidas 3.0 signature shoe...and even more excited about the midseason 3.5.  But this 4.0 looks atrocious. I'm sure it will perform but it doesn't carry the good looks of its predecessors...

And the Saga continues...

I never thought another Asics model would surpass the Gel Lyte III as my favorite.  But after obtaining my Neptunes last year, I was hooked.  This year, these GRs have my attention.

The black/green "Mint" colorway (left) carried some hype, selling out at the Kith NYC store. Meanwhile, the grey/orange/black pair continues to sit at sneaker store (you can find the grey/orange/black pair for well under retail, $90, on eBay.).

Regardless of hype or sitting, Sagas rock and will definitely make my summer rotation. They fit true-to-size, unlike the GL3.

50 Things You Didn't Know About New Balance

Did you know the name "New Balance" comes from founder William Riley observing chickens in his backyard?

The name is derived from how a three-toed foot best supports a body.  NB would then produce arch supports with three prongs on them based on his observation, thus creating a "new balance."

More nuggets of NB goodness at Complex.

#Viotech

Tomorrow's launch dates of the AJ XI low, Asics GL 3 "St Alfred" and Camo Foamposite all take a backseat to this OG banger...the Dunk Low "Viotech".  Originally dropped in 2001 in Japan only, this version has leather ankle collar (originals were all suede) and Nike Zoom Air cushioning.

I'm hoping the hype is small on these...

Pass The TP

With Game 1 of the NBA Finals kicking off tonight between the Spurs & Heat, we get to see a bunch of player exclusive offerings for Nike (LeBron), Li-Ning (Wade) and adidas (Duncan)...
NBA Finals

But what about Tony Parker, the most polarizing player on the Spurs?  Since he left Nike, Parker has signed with Chinese brand Peak and will unveil these tonight...

...the player exclusive Peak "Team Lightning" in TP9 PE c/w.  Other Peak endorsees include George Hill, Shane Battier, JaVale McGee, CJ Watson, Kyle Lowry, Kevin Love, Dorell Wright, Jason Richardson, Mickael Pietrus and the recently retired Jason Kidd. Not too shabby!

What the...

LeBron James was announced as NBA league MVP on Sunday.  On Monday, he busted out his "What The MVP" shoes Monday night during the first half of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semi-finals in Miami.

Bron put on his Heat-colored Elite X for the second half, which resulted in a loss to the Bulls.  The MVP shoes should release sometime in July.  More pics of the actual shoe here, courtesy of Sole Collector

The CP3 Collection

After chasing the latest Kobes, LeBrons and Durants the past few years, I decided to take a break and venture back into the world of Jordan.  I started picking up the signature shoes of my favorite (current) point guard, Chris Paul.

As we watch CP3 and Lob City play their second playoff game tonight vs. Memphis, lets take a look back at what Paul has worn with the Jumpman on it...

The CP3 I.  The shoe that started it all. While I feel this shoe is a little bulky, it was considered lightweight compared to it's Team Jordan counterparts and had fantastic cushioning.  The $115 price tag was also a welcome sight compared to the LeBron line (pushing towards $200) and the Kobe line (pushing towards $140-150 mark).

The CP3 II.  One of my favs.  Yes, that's denim on the navy blue upper portions. The Mardi Gras colorway was the most sought after.

The CP3 III.  My least favorite of Paul's signature line. Narrow, poor traction...only the speed lacing saved it.

The CP3 IV.  This shoe is amazing. Great for ball and for rocking. This unreleased China colorway is my favorite CP3 model.

The CP3 V.  Great fit & performance, but the shoe has a banana shape to it. Gives off the appearance of being too narrow, even thought they don't fit like so.  The V is my second least fav of the CP3 line.

The CP3 VI.  An absolute beast on the court.  The traction is unparalleled, combined with premium cushioning and weight.  If it wasn't for the CP3 IV, this would be my favorite.

I'm really not digging the new CP3 VI AE (Artisan Edition) that Paul is wearing for the playoffs, but I'll snag on the low come fall time.

Go Lob City!

#Boost

Today I had the pleasure of trying on the adidas Boost before it's launch next week on 2/27.  Boost foam technology is definitely as spongy feeling as it looks, feeling like a less dense Lunarlon.

Most adidas runner midsoles feel firm to me; not so much with this model.  They also run a tad on the narrow side, but not enough to go up a size.

The red colorway simply pops, FYI...
