Hope Springs Eternal

My beloved Chicago Cubs started spring training this past weekend with pitchers & catchers reporting for duty. Lots of change in the air: new president (Theo Epstein), new GM ( Jed Hoyer), new manager (Dale Sveum), departures of key vets (Carlos Zambrano and Aramis Ramirez) and some controversial news on Starlin Castro.

All things considered, I'm loving the direction of this team & I'm celebrating with a pair of Dunk SBs (pictured above). I haven't been in-tune with all the SB nicknames over the past few years, so I'll call these my "Cubs" & plan on having Old Style splashed on them at Wrigley Field this summer.

Everyone Is An Artist

Everytime I look at the sneaker blogs & news sites, I see some kind of custom work being done on some sneakers. Some have been real good...but some have been atrociously bad. With that said, I figured it was time to re-show off a custom piece I worked on with C2 5 years ago...


Meet the Zoom Kobe 1 x Union 180 custom...


I came up with the idea and shared it with C2 (aka Chris Hui from Milwaukee, currently studying at the University of Minnesota). He executed it ten times better than I imagined it. We took a GR pair of AZK 1 white/grey and took hits from the Union 180 Barkleys from the Clerks Pack a few years ago...


Hats off to C2 and EmmanuelLabor, two dude who have been doing this for years, before the masses started grabbing paintbrushes & Angelus paint.

Love the personalized "Flint" & "Grey" hits on the tongue above the Shizoko.

Beer Me

An upcoming Nike Dunk SB Low release has a booze-related theme to it


Liquor & beer inspiration is nothing new to Nike SB Dunks (Lows: Heineken, Newcastle, Miller High Life; Highs: Tecate, Mickeys), but the gradient effect of brown to black is definitely a nice touch on these.

Flint Grey Appropriate

I've been going H.A.M. on the Crazy 8 this month, so it's only fitting I add a "Flint Grey" pair to the collection...





I swear I am done with this shoe...for now.

Lin-Sane

This pic has been floating around the boards today. Is this a real Jeremy Lin's Hyperfuse PE? If so, will it release?

I am guessing this is not a PE; its basically the same color-blocking as the Russell Westbrook Hyperfuse PE (let's see the tongue to settle once and for all!)

Historical

Many folks will say these look just liked the "Miami Nights" colorway, but this "Black History Month" Lebron 9 features three noticeable differences (besides the BHM hits)...


...white swoosh instead of purple...


...detailed lining ala "Watch The Throne" & "Freegums"...


...and clear outsole.


I love the combination of subtlety (black/grey base) and in-your-face detailing.

This pair of adidas Crazy 8s will always be linked to the two greatest basketball player of our generation...


The 1998 NBA All Star game signified a passing of the torch from Michael Jordan to Kobe Bryant. In this game, MJ rocked the Playoff XIII & Mamba wore the Crazy 8 in what is now called the "ASG" colorway.


The shoe features a black/white colorway with Laker-colored accents. Still my favorite adidas hoops shoe...
