A Lunar Eclipse In the Forecast?

Hitting stores soon...the newest addition to the Lunar family: the Lunar Eclipse.

The shoe features the lightweight feel of a LunarGlide but with a premium ride like the Zoom Vomero...

The shoe carries a hefty price tag ($130); I'll let you know in a day or so if they are worth it after I take these out on the lakefront. More soon...

Goin' Ballistic

Tennis shoes are back.

For years running and basketball shoes have dominated the attention of sneakerheads, but now tennis kicks make their way back into the limelight with the 2010 US Open championship won by Rafael Nadal...

The eccentric Nadal won the Open wearing the Nike Air Max Courtballistic 2.3m and its making waves in the sneaker world...

Did I mention these glow-in-the-dark?

Available only at the US Open this year, a pop-up store made available an all-tennis ball material CB 2.3 (size 15s only).

We haven't seen this type of buzz since another Nike-sponsored tennis player from the 1990s...

Andre Agassi's Nike Air Tech Challenge series are iconic from the 1990's and are a favorite with vintage/OG collectors.

Nike Sportswear has retro'd some of his ATC's over the past few years...

One colorway of Rafa's CB2.3 emulates Agassi's ATC II "neon" colorway...

For an interesting video, check out how Nadal preps his game day shoes here.

Kicks For Kids

Every fall, Nike partners with the Doernbecher Children's Hospital each year to pair six kids up with Nike designers to design "freestyle" charity shoes. Retail sales from the shoes go to the Portland-based hospital. This fall's line-up will be the seventh edition of the freestyle designing.

The designs for all the shoes, including an Air Jordan III, will be unveiled October 9th at Weiden + Kennedy. According to Sneaker News, there will be a fourth installment of the Nike Air Jordan "Doernbecher".

The kids designs range from Nike Air Max 95s...

to Nike Dunks...

...but it's usually the Air Jordans that make the most noise. Here are the previous three editions (pics per SN)...

2007 - Nike Air Jordan II "Doernbecher"

2008 - Nike Air Jordan I "Doernbecher"

2009 - Nike Air Jordan VI "Doernbecher"

2010 - (to been seen Oct 9) Nike Air Jordan III "Doernbecher"

Spiked Out

We probably wouldn't be buying these Air Jordan VIs...

...without the help of Spike Lee.

Spike Lee is an iconic figure in the world of sneakers. The Air Jordan commercials which he stars as Mars Blackmon are iconic.

He is a fixture at Madison Square Garden for New York Knicks games, where you will see him rocking the freshest footwear and never wearing the same pair twice.

His hybrid Spi'Zike combines features of various Air Jordans and is now an annual fixture on Brand Jordan's product list.

Yesterday Complex Magazine compiled some of the best Spike footwear moments. Have a peek yourself.
