Tick, Tick...Boom!

MLB All Star closer Brian Wilson of the San Francisco Giants is receiving a lot of attention for wearing his all-orange Nike Diamond Elite baseball cleats vs. the Florida Marlins last night, with the opposing team's manager complaining that the shoes were "too loud".

Going hand-in-hand with Nike's monochromatic theme that we mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Wilson's cleats were not a SMU (special make-up) for him but rather part of a special "Boom Pack" given to certain Nike players MLB All Star weekend.

The pack included the Diamond Elite cleats, two pairs of Nike sunglasses (Victory & Skylon EXP), Diamond Elite batting gloves and "Beats by Dre" headphones. More pics of the pack on Eastbay's blog.

Apparently, the cleats didn't distract the Marlins hitters in the ninth inning; Wilson got the save, but only after giving up a home run to fellow Nike endorsee Dan Uggla.

Bringing the Heat

We already know what shoe Lebron will be wearing when the NBA season kicks off this fall...but here's a shoe that's appropriately-colored for his new digs: the Nike Zoom Soldier IV"Skills Academy" PE.

Maybe we'll see the King don a pair for a preseason game.

You can find plenty more images here (thanks to my dude Matt at LRJ23.com).

Also announced today, the Nike Air Force 1 Low Premium "Five Boroughs" Pack: Queens, Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island.

The Next Elway?

OK, it's a stretch to make any kind of comparisons yet, but Tim Tebow is causing a commotion on the Denver Broncos. He has yet to take an NFL snap yet, but the QB from the University of Florida is causing a stir in the trading card world...

...and now the sneaker world.

Check out his Florida Gator-inspired Nike Air Trainer 1.2s. The shoes commemorate Tebow's cover appearance of Electronic Arts's NCAA Football 2011 video game.

It even celebrates his famous "promise"...

Tebow is even generating Twitter buzz with his sneakers (they are dropping August 6th)...

Witness This!

As if we haven't heard enough Lebron "Decision" chatter....now we finally see something worthwhile from the event. Check out these anti-Lebron tees from Cleveland Scene; for you Cleveland area cats, this might be the only gear worth wearing with your Cav-colored Lebron kicks!

And my favorite...

AF1 x Mercurial Vapor = Wow!

The World Cup may be over, but soccer inspiration is still in the air! Straight from the mind of Chris Hui (aka C2 Customs), here comes the best custom sneaker I have seen in a long time -- the Nike Air Force One x Mercurial Vapor Superfly II.

C2, took the design of the upper of Nike's $400 soccer boot and stamped it onto an AF1 Low. The result? A masterpiece.

From C2 himself...

Upper features Nike's signature Mach Metallic Purple ...and Total Orange, a specific color combination designed to draw attention to the human eye.

The carbon fiber plate that graces the outsole of the soccer boots is substituted with a carbon fiber tongue on the sneakers.

The monster-sized black Nike swoosh that claims the majority of the upper makes certain that there is no mistake which brand you're supporting.

1 of 1. Comes complete with a custom box and Nike Product (RED) laces - just in case you wanted to dress them like the US squad does.

The original boot...

Brilliant, Chris....brilliant! I'll be doing a profile on Wisconsin's very own C2 soon -- stay tuned!

Going, going, gone!

Tonight is the MLB All Star Home Run Derby. Hanley Ramirez of the Florida Marlins is regarded as one of the best young players in the game and is participating in the event. Hanley left Nike for baseball brand Boombah. Since the switch, Boombah has issued him some pretty impressive player exclusive cleats along with his own H2R apparel line.

Check out what he will be wearing tonight as he swings for the fences (put on your sunglasses, folks)...

Whoa! Unfortunately, these are PE's only & won't be released.

Keep those sunglasses on; have you noticed Nike's overuse of monochromatic colorways? Many of the one-color Attack Pack Air Maxs have hit outlets, yet so many of this fall's upcoming models feature monochromatic colorways. For instance, the 2010 HyperDunk "Highlighter" pack...

Yikes! Where's the orange!? The orange highlighter is my favorite!

You can see more monochromatic madness on the Nike Huarache TR Mid "Superhero Pack" dropping in October/November...

While I am a big fan of the OG Huarache Trainer & not a fan of this update, the colorways of this pack are a joke. Each c/w is a different DC Comics superhero...

The Green Hornet (dropping October 2010)

The Flash (November 2010)

Superman (November 2010 - Black Friday)

Simply just too much color for me.

And last but not least, peep Kobe's United We Rise AZK V...

Kinda boring if you ask me. I much prefer the GR USA AZK V dropping the first week of August better...

But with Kobe & Lebron both sitting out the FIBA World Championships, I expect both of their UWR shoes (ZK5 & ZS4) to sit on the shelves.

The Emperor's New Clothes

Wow - that didn't take long. No need for Photoshopped pics any longer. After watching hours of post "Decision" footage, here's some Bron pics wearing his new digs from tonight's intro in Miami...

Huarache 2K10s? C'mon...

Looks like he's wearing number #6 after all. I figured Mario Chalmers would hold it for ransom.

Well, it's been said a million times already, but I don't hate the decision (being a Bulls fan) but I hate the way he did it. Way to rip out the hearts of Cleveland fans and disrespect the city that loved you.
